Polkadot will enable a completely decentralized web where users are in control.

Polkadot is built to connect private and consortium chains, public and permissionless networks, oracles, and future technologies that are yet to be created. Polkadot facilitates an internet where independent blockchains can exchange information and transactions in a trustless way via the Polkadot relay chain.

Polkadot makes it easier than ever to create and connect decentralized applications, services, and institutions. By empowering innovators to build better solutions, we seek to free society from its reliance on a broken web where its large institutions can’t violate our trust.

Hackathon Schedule

Bounties and Prizes

  • Native smart contracts are coming to Polkadot later this year! Solidity and ink!- based smart contracts can now be deployed and tested on the Westend hub, a Polkadot testnet. We welcome hackers to participate in the smart contract launch on Kusama, which is expected to happen during the hackathon timeframe.

Smart contracts on Polkadot will be executed on PolkaVM, a RISC-V based virtual machine. Hence, there is a bounty on the theme “Copy, Pasta, and Compare,” which entails porting popular open-source smart contract projects across verticals like DeFi, Gaming, Social Media, ZK, etc., and performing comparative analysis on the performance, cost, and ease of deployment.

There is also a bounty on building and deploying smart contracts tailored to Polkadot and its unique set of features (Original Project theme). We also encourage hackers to help improve our technical documentation and tooling. Come and be part of the exciting journey of Polkadot’s smart contract launch!

    Learn more:

  • Kusama, which has served as a canary network for Polkadot, is now rediscovering its “Expect Chaos” theme and venturing into the ZK space. Web3 Foundation has allocated 10 Million DOT to provide support for bleeding-edge building, including ZK innovation, and transition Kusama away from being purely Polkadot’s canary network. We welcome hackers to get started with building ZK primitives and use cases using Polkadot SDK.

    Prize Pool: $5,000

  • PAPI, the Polkadot-API, is a collection of modular and composable libraries primarily designed to enable dApp developers to build fully decentralized applications. With its "light-client first" approach, PAPI offers a comprehensive toolkit for dApp development.

While Polkadot JS API is still a popular choice for developers, during this hackathon, we would like to put a bounty on DApps built exclusively using PAPI. We encourage hackers to port any popular open-source project on Polkadot features like staking, governance, multi-sigs, proxies, cross-chain apps or build PAPI based app that improves Polkadot UX.

    Learn more:

  • Forget the Web3 learning curve—code like it’s Web2, deploy like it’s Web3. With Apillon, use your favorite frontend and backend stack, access blockchain via a unified API, and package everything in Docker for seamless, scalable deployment to Confidential Computing. One build, infinite possibilities.

    Juding Criteria:
There will be two main judging criteria: the first is the number of services used in dApp development, and the second is how closely the dApp aligns with the concept presented in the workshop.

    Prizes:
    1st Place: $2,000 USDC
    2nd Place: $1,000 USDC

  • Utilise the SubQeury SDK to develop a custom indexer and integrate it with a an AI agent.

    Prize:
1x Free Growth Plan on OnFinality (20M free requests)

  • Set of Solidity smart contract challenges on Polkadot Hub.
    Explore each of them here.

    Prize:
    10x 150 USDT
